Survived the Quake!

Kipley wanted me to let everyone know that she, Matthew, and Wyatt are all safe and unharmed. They have no electricity or internet access. Kipley says it is the scariest thing she has ever experienced! It was so good to hear her voice on the phone!!! Please keep them, and all the other people affected by the quake, in your prayers.

5 months already?!

It's true...I can't get over how fast the time has flown. Wyatt is so much fun at this age because he can interact with me more and his personality is definitely making an appearance. I saw the doctor today for his monthly checkup and he is in the 90th percentile for height (27.6 inches) and 75th for weight (17.3lbs). They do the metric system down here in Chile so when the pediatrician told me that Wyatt was 70 cm long..that meant nothing to me since I have completely forgotten any sort of conversion table from school. Thankfully, as a result of my blank stare, he did the math himself and saw that I was much more comfortable with inches. I am a fan of them..Inches and Fahrenheit. I miss Fahrenheit. Celsius and I will never have a relationship. Anyways...
A few of the latest things that Wyatt is doing are:
-Continuing to sleep through the night..goes to bed around 8:30pm and gets up around 8:15 the next morning. I feel totally blessed that he does that. He takes 2 naps during the day...one around 11 am and the other around 3 pm. They can last anywhere between 45 minutes to 2 hours.
-He got his 1st tooth on Sunday!! We're going to start with real food next week. They don't have rice cereal down here in Chile..so we are just going to start with vegetables. I think carrots and squash are on the menu.
-He has discovered how to make a coughing sound and does it constantly.
-He is noticing more of Major and Molly (the dogs) and will sometimes just laugh when they walk by him when he's in the exersaucer.
I guess Wyatt was tired of being the object of the flash photography and resorted to being destructive. I guess that's what happens when you try to pose a 5 month old..
Skeptical?...yes. Amused?...not really.

1987 is making a comeback.....

So I don't know how it is in the States at the moment..but the fashion here in Santiago is all about the 80's. Seriously....lots of the trends in the stores are reminiscent of what I was seeing when I was in kindergarten. Acid washed jeans...horrible floral prints...bedazzled everything. Matt and I couldn't resist taking some pics at the mall the other day..because we couldn't believe that there were so many people buying this stuff..It's crazy popular! And on a side note..you may think that these are from the Juniors dept..but sadly these are meant for a grown woman..

Smile!

So I realized that most of the pics that I have of Wyatt are of him in an intense stare...so I thought that I would take some of him with a sunny disposition.  The stare is still his favorite pose..so...oh well..you get what you can get.   Enjoy!

Surprise at the local Chilean toystore

So...Matt and I were perusing one of the baby stores in our area for a couple of things for Wyatt and came across the scene below.  I mean, I can understand names like The Explorer..or The Discoverer..but.....?!
